Iceland AI Ram Butur

Ram Sire:  "Butur"      (Sire: "Keli" 89955   x  dam: "4821")
Butur was shown as a yearling and got the following:
Weight and measure: 74Kg - 98cm - 23cm - 109mm. 1st placing A.
(No points given)

Description: Butur is white, wool rather short, yellow on head and feet. His horns are close to the head, neck is thick and ribs are well sprung. The back is domed with thick muscles, muscling in loin and legs is excellent. Legs are placed widely and feet rather thin and short. Butur has exceptionally hard muscles.

Production results: Butur's offspring were analyzed in 1994 and he came first of the rams tested at that time in legs (4.33 points) and front (4.28 points), he tied 2nd with back muscle (14.5cm2) and rib fat (9.33mm), and he cam4 2nd with dressed weight 16.3 kg. Last fall 43 of Butur's lambs were slaughtered and 18 of those or 42% were classified A-1 (Top grading). At the same time a group of very promising ram lambs sired by Butur came up for evaluation so it is obvious that Butur is very strongly prepotent. Unfortunately some of his offspinng have yellow kemp so he should be used on pure white ewes - (or colored ones). Eighteen two year old daughters of Butur are kept at Hestur and are very promising.
